SRF Linac

A software controls engineer inspects inspects the beamline in the superconducting radio frequency (SRF) linear accelerator (linac), housed in the linac tunnel. The linac is comprised of 46 cryomodules, which were assembled in house by FRIB staff with components acquired from industry. The cryomodules contain SRF resonators that accelerate FRIB's heavy-ion beam while operating at temperatures a few degrees above absolute zero. The SRF resonators were designed and prototyped at FRIB and then produced by industry.
